While you may know that a certain sprint athlete achievethe ‘Triple-Triple’ in Rio, you may not know about Estonia’s identical triplet athletes.
The three sisters made history in Rio when they all competed in the women’s marathon. Calling themselves the “Trio to Rio” and sporting identical uniforms and blonde ponytails, the triplets are used to spectators and officials mixing them up when they’re competing.
The 30-year-old triplets are from the medieval city of Tartu and, amazingly, they only turned pro at the relatively late age of 24. Although they didn’t walk away with a medal, they can go home knowing they made history and will be holding their identical heads high.
