N IS FOR… NAUGHTY BUSINESS

Many of you may remember the story of eight Badminton players disqualified from the London 2012 Games after being accused of throwing their matches. Although in this case there was no suggestion of betting, it’s a serious matter that can overshadow any sporting event.

For that reason, it’s great that this year the organisers have appointed the specialised sports betting and tech company Genius Sport. Their sole aim is to stop any possible betting-related corruption by tracking suspicious patterns and unusual activity.

With just a week to go, so far there’s been no mention of any foul play, so it’s a thumbs up from us.
